The Vertis Birdie is a highly versatile all-mountain ski with appropriate performance for a wide range of skiers. From intermediates through accomplished expert skiers, just about anyone can find something to like about the Vertis Birdie. The 85 mm waist width and slight tip and tail rocker feels responsive and quick edge to edge on groomers and firm snow conditions, but also provides enough float and maneuverability for off-piste terrain like moguls and trees. You’re not going to win any races on the Vertis Birdie (well you might, I guess it depends who you’re racing...), but it does have enough grip and stability for spirited, high speed skiing. At the same time, it’s perfectly happy at more moderate speeds and when just cruising some rolling groomers. That versatility and approachability is what makes it such a valuable ski to have on the market. Easy to ski for an intermediate, yet still rewarding for an expert, which is an noteworthy accomplishment from Black Crows.
